MISSION

The Mission of Chapter 646 is to continue its pre-eminence as a major resource for small business counseling, mentoring, and education in Citrus County.

OVERVIEW

Citrus County is a growing rural area with a population of approximately 136,749 with approximately 8,700 licensed businesses. The population is estimated to increase 5% annually.

While the economy is to a large extent agricultural and rural, there are a large and growing number of small businesses, as well as major chains: i.e. Home Depot,Lowes and Walmart Supercenters. Additionally, the extension of the Suncoast Parkway has had a positive inpact on the growth of the economy of Citrus County. Residential construction, medical, restaurants, and general services represent the dominant business activities. The largest percentage of the population is retired.

MISSION STRATEGY

The Chapter's Mission is to provide community services tailored to Citrus County needs for small business counseling and education. This is a proactive program with a broad but well defined agenda. Growth of counseling services is built on an established base of client referrals from the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation, lending institutions, media exposure, and speaking bureaus. Additionally, continue the outreach program to include trade associations and other business organizations, plus teaching opportunities with CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITY COLLEGE( CFCC), Citrus Campus, by offering business workshops and seminars.
